Professional Master's Degree in Medicinal Plants and Herbal Remedies in Basic Care
About the program
The Professional Master's Degree in Medicinal Plants and Herbal Remedies in Basic Care was created in 2015 as an innovative proposal from Universidade Paranaense for health professionals and similar areas. The program has the aim of training professionals with knowledge and skills for implementing local productive arrangements related to the National Policy of Integrative and Complementary Practices from the Single Health System (SUS) regarding the National Policy of Medicinal Plants and Herbal Remedies. The future alumni of the program shall be able to solve problems in an innovative manner, updating and expanding the technical and scientific knowledge aquired, with the purpose of contributing to the society, to the productive sector and mainly to the Public Health System regarding the use of Medicinal Plants and Herbal Remedies. In order to do so, the students will have a diversified syllabus, with the development of practical work both at the laboratory and in the field, as well as extra-curricular activities. They will also have the opportunity of working their critical and creative spirit searching for knowledge and the solution of issues according to the regional needs to expand the therapeutic actions and improvement of the health care to SUS users. They will also promote the sustainable use of the local biodiversity, valuing and preserving the knowledge from traditional and indigenous communities, supporting the family farming in the regions they are inserted.
PRODUCTIVE ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE PUBLIC HEALTH SYSTEM
Set of actions connected to medicinal plants and herb remedies located in a single territory, which hold a certain level of articulation, interaction, cooperation and learning both among themselves and with other local agents (government, research, teaching and credit institutions) aiming to train professionals to meet the demand of implementing the National Policy of Integrative and Complementary Practices at the Single Health System regarding the National Policy of Medicinal Plants and Herbal Remedies.
